Julia Kay

http://studiojuliakay.com/art/

Julia L. Kay is an American digital and traditional based artist, who creates drawings, paintings, photographs and murals of various different objects, things and items. She graduated in a BA of Photography, from Wesleyan University in Connecticut, and has done some work at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, in Maryland. She personally interests me as a digital artist, due to her eye-catching creations of canines.

She uses a thick, broad line styles coupled with minimal detail. This is something which I do myself, when sketching animals such as dogs. In a way I personally feel that I connect to her work, in terms of style and technique.

Another example of her thick use of line style, in an entire series called "Ruby & Ringo Sketchbook".

The link to her gallery on this series, is below this text.

I think I will take some inspiration from her styles, and portray it onto one of my own final illustrations.

I created a tester, of a dog in the style of Julia Kay.

A digital tester, using a similar colour scheme, against a contrasting background, like in Julia's style.
