Adobe Photoshop is an advanced digital manipulation software package that is created and sold by the company Adobe. It is very similar to other software packages, like gimp for example, but is more refined, and more professionally coded. It is the industry standard package in the commercial world, and is used by many artists, both digital and traditional. It can be used for simple, to intense photo editing, as well as creating stunning works of art, when connected to an external tablet with pen input.
The version Imam using for this unit, is very similar to CS6, however it is the latest edition by Adobe, and is called photoshop CC (creative cloud). The version I am using is the 30 day trial, it contains the whole package of course, just with the obvious trial time limit.
Having the ability to access photoshop on my own computer for 30 days is perfect, as the entire digital manipulation project is less than 30 days anyway, and I can work more from home, which means I am not tied to the uni's computers, for a limited time each day, now I can go on the editor whenever I please. I will be purchasing CS6 in the new year though, for future projects.
So, recently I have really got to grips with the softwares basic features, such as using the brush settings, colour tools, the many filters, lassoing, and the very handy magic wand tool, which I adore.
I love the visual look and feel of the software, and I really enjoy using it, as it is a pleasure to work with. I look forward to making the remainder of my final pieces, on this glorious piece, of well designed and engineered software.
Until next time, Thomas.
